I figure if David was able to do that, then I should be able to praise the Lord, even when I'm in the midst of a trial. So I started doing this, not just when I'm feeling good, and everything is going right, but also in my down times. I will still go through the trials of life, we all do, but when I praise Him through the trial, I find that the weight of oppression is lifted from me, and I am able to walk.
If I praise the Lord, and I focus on Him, then my eyes are on Him, and not on me, or the trial that is in front of me, and He is bigger than any trial that I might be going through. He is big enough to carry me through and keep me from drowning in my trials. He can carry me through to the other side, and put me back on solid ground, because he is our foundation...
Hi Julie -
ReplyDeleteAren't the Psalms such a comfort?!
You speak the truth here - yes, truly you do!
Thank you, Julie, for sharing this with us.
Your love for our Lord is appreciated.
Amen, Amen and Amen Julie!
ReplyDeleteThe Psalms become your best friend when you're going through the valley of the shadow of death. For sure. Praising God through our trials sends the devil packing. Remember the story of Jehoshaphat in 1 Chronicles 20 (maybe 2 Chronicles 20), when he and all of Israel began praising God when they were about to be attacked by a vast army of enemies? God stepped in and confused the enemy, turning the enemy army on themselves and giving Israel victory. That's what our praise does in the spirit realm during our trials. I'm a witness to that.
I write about Jesus being the reason for the season in my new blog post. I wish you and your family a blessed Christmas!
Judy
Thank you for reminding me. There are reasons to glorify God even in the midst of trials.
