Worship Is What You Make It

I learned from the Lord recently that it's not important what is going on in other peoples hearts during worship, and I need to stop paying attention to see if the Lord is moving in other peoples hearts before I open up and let Him move in my heart. I need to just open up and let Him move regardless. If I want to raise my hands during worship, that is between me and Him. He is the object of my Worship, not the other people in the congregation. Here is an excerpt of a post I made on Sandra's blog. I thought I would share what, specifically, God told me I needed to do.

Post made originally on August 14 2010

For a while I was toying with the idea of switching churches. The worship wasn't doing anything for me, and I was disillusioned because yet another pastor was leaving us. I prayed about it, and this is what the Lord told me. I was to stop sitting up in the balcony where I'm hidden from everyone, and everyone was pretty much hidden from me. I was to stop worrying about what was going on with everyone else, and I was to sing my praise to Him, and worship Him. If I felt the Holy Spirit move in me, I was not to hide it, but to raise my hands in worship, and let it show etc... I've done this for the last two Sundays, and I no longer have that pull to look for another church. I think that God has me at this church for a reason, so this is where I am. Worship is what you make it.

Aug 21 2010 Update:

I've been doing what the Lord asked of me, and after three Sundays, I'm experiencing a new zest to my worship. I'm truly Worshiping Him when I worship, and I don't pay as much attention to those around me. God is Good...

  1. Hi Julie -

That is great news. Indeed, abundant satisfaction and abundant peace can only be found in our Lord...

Thank you, Lord, for the privilege to be heirs with You and joint heirs with JESUS....

  2. Hi Julie,

I really love what you have written. You are truly following God and not going through motions. God has been dealing with me for quite some time about putting my health a priority. I did in the past and need to regain that desire to be and feel healthy. I also have a burden to worship freely and not feel ashamed if I am led to raise my hands and worship. My church is conservative regarding demonstrative worship and I respect that but I am torn. Praying God will gie me clear guidance in that area. Thank you for writing from the heart.

  4. Thank you all for your comments. Sandra, God is Good, and he knows what we need, and you are right, abundant peace can only be found in our Lord...

Diane God is the master at giving us the guidance we need to do what He wants of us, and you need not feel ashamed if you are led to raise your hands in worship. King David even Danced before the Lord, but I understand about being in and ultra conservative church when it comes to worship

Ron, thank you for following my blog.
